Fashion Photography: Annmarie Schwarzenbach

Inspired by the obscure but brilliant journalist Annmarie Schwarzenbach, I created this editorial both to honor the late author, and to cast a spotlight on her accomplishments. Her work all but forgotten, this series strove to re-introduce the world to this once-icon. I used natural light and tailored masculine clothing inspired by what Annmarie herself used to wear. This was part of a larger ongoing “Sheroes” series in which I used fashion photography as a medium to tell the stories of inspirational women throughout history, with the explicit intention of giving young women alternative role models to what pop culture surrounds them with.
